Swore by wire brushes for tube cleaning until I used a needle scaler on a superheater header
Thought it was just hype from the old timers, but after three hours of cleaning with a wire brush I borrowed a needle scaler from a buddy and finished the whole bank in forty five minutes with way less elbow grease, has anyone else had a tool they ignored for years that turned out to be a game changer?

Had a guy who swore by angle grinders until he tried a die grinder on his boiler tubes and never looked back.

Man, angle grinders still do the job fine for most stuff.

Used to be an angle grinder guy myself, hard to beat for most stuff... then I borrowed a buddies die grinder for a tight spot on some old pipes and it was like seeing in the dark for the first time. The control you get in cramped spaces is just night and day, no comparison really. Still keep my angle grinder around for the rough work though, die grinders are more of a specialty tool for me now. But yeah, that first time with one definitely changed my mind about what's possible.
