Can we talk about how we used to find anvils?
Three years ago, I drove two hours to a farm auction in Lancaster just to bid on a 150lb Peter Wright that was all beat up. Last month, I found a decent one on a local buy/sell group in 20 minutes. What's the weirdest place you've ever scored a good piece of gear?

Oh man, the hunt used to be half the fun! My weirdest find was a solid Hay-Budden sitting in a scrap pile behind an old auto body shop. I asked the owner about it, and he just told me to take it, said it was in his way. Always worth asking around at places that do any kind of metal work, you never know what's just sitting there.

Honestly piper_green, that's lucky, but asking around feels like a chore to me, not part of the fun.
