I don't get the hype around Stranger Things season 4 at all

Everyone says it's a masterpiece, but I tried to binge it over a weekend and it took me almost a month to finish. The episodes are way too long, like the finale is over 2 hours, and the plot felt super dragged out. Has anyone else felt like the show lost its fast-paced charm after season 2?

Remember my friend who used to rewatch the first season every October? He started season four on release day and just finished last week. He said it felt like homework, like he had to force himself to watch an hour at a time because nothing really happened until the very end of each long episode. He misses when the show was just a bunch of kids on bikes figuring out a smaller mystery.

Ugh, totally feel that. I watched the finale in two sittings because I kept checking how much time was left. The whole season just felt like a chore to get through.

Seriously though, is any TV show worth that much stress? If it feels like homework just turn it off and watch something fun instead.
