Is my old router dying or is it just Windows 10 getting worse?

My Netgear WNR2000 from like 2010 keeps dropping connection every 45 minutes now. It worked fine for years but after the last Windows update in November my whole network goes down unless I reboot the router. I refuse to buy a new one because this thing survived a basement flood and still lights up. Has anyone else seen this with ancient routers and newer OS updates or is it just time to let go?

Ditch that router man, Windows 10 updates are probably just finally breaking its old bones for good.

Old bones breaking" is exactly right @ryan_carr59 lol. That WNR2000 was a beast back in the day but modern Windows updates are basically sending it frantic handshake requests it cant keep up with. I had an ancient Linksys that did the same thing where every 40 minutes like clockwork it would reboot itself. It's probably the router trying to handle new security protocols or something that just makes it crash. You could try turning off things like UPnP or QoS in settings to lighten the load but honestly that thing is running on fumes at this point.
