Noticed younger barbers skipping the straight razor finish

I've been cutting hair for about 8 years now, mostly in Dallas. Over the last 6 months I've seen a lot of the new guys in my shop just using clippers and trimmers for the neckline, no razor work at all. A few of them told me they think the razor takes too long and clients don't care about the difference. Has anyone else seen this shift in your area?

Has anyone here actually asked their clients if they miss the razor finish? I mean, it only takes an extra minute and the texture difference is pretty noticeable.

Yeah I actually saw a barber on YouTube break this down and he said most guys under 30 don't even know what a razor finish feels like anymore. @matthewperry is right that it is a texture thing but I think a lot of clients just want speed over that extra polish. Hard to say if they'd miss something they never really experienced in the first place.
