Debate: Are 15 minute haircuts worth the trade off?
I saw this barber in Dallas on Instagram who does full scissor cuts in like 12-15 minutes flat. The before and after pictures look clean, no question. But I've been taking 30-40 minutes on my cuts for years, focusing on texture and layering. Is the speed just a flex for social media, or do customers actually prefer a quick in-and-out over a more detailed session? I'm curious if anyone else has tried speeding up their process and lost quality or gained clients.

Man that's a tough one. Feels like you're walking a line between showing off skills and actually serving people well. Speed is impressive but not if it messes with the quality people expect.
I've been on both sides honestly. Had a guy do a 10 minute trim once and it looked fine at first but the shape fell apart after a week. That texture and layering you talk about takes time for a reason.
Some customers are obsessed with getting out fast though. They don't care about details they just want to look acceptable. But you lose the ones who notice when something's off.
Maybe it depends on the client type. Younger guys scrolling phones might prefer quick. Older crowd or people with tricky hair probably want that extra attention.
You sound like you care about your work. That matters more than speed in the long run.

But don't you think speed shows you really know your craft though?

That Dallas barber is probably booking 4+ clients an hour which means way more money in the long run even if a few cuts don't last.
