Picked self-watering pots over standard ones for my tiny balcony

I had to decide between regular terracotta pots and self-watering ones for my 3x5 foot balcony last spring. Went with the self-watering ones and my cherry tomatoes actually survived a 95 degree heatwave while my basil in terracotta got crispy. Has anyone else tried those wicking pots for small spaces?

Did you water the basil more or just let the pot do its thing?

Agreed completely, I let mine do its thing too and it worked way better than me hovering. The self watering pots just keep the soil moist enough without me guessing and drowning the roots. My basil actually doubled in size after I stopped messing with it every day.
