Spent $300 on a fancy digital scale and I'm sending it back.

Everyone says you need one for perfect bread, but my old $20 scale and a steady hand gave me the same results. Has anyone else found that some 'essential' gear is just hype?

My old scale has a single button and a faint coffee stain. It's never once judged my dough, just quietly did the math. Fancy gear is for people who forgot how to bake.

Three hundred dollars? For a scale? I thought my wife was nuts for the twenty dollar one. What does it even do, talk to you? My old one shows a number and that's all the info I need. The bread gear hype is out of control.
