YouTube's algorithm is better at recommending old videos than Spotify is at recommending new music

Been testing this theory for a few months now. Spotify keeps pushing me the same 5 playlists with artists I already know, while YouTube randomly threw up a 4 year old video about fixing a toaster that I actually needed. The discoverability gap is wild. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my listening habits being weird?

Hold on, Spotify's algorithm actually learns your tastes way better than YouTube ever could because it tracks your skips and replays with more precision. YouTube's suggestions often just boost whatever is trending or gets the most views, not what's actually useful to you specifically. Maybe the toaster video was just a lucky hit, not proof YouTube's overall system is smarter.

Spotify keeps pushing me the same 5 playlists" - kinda like how my grocery store never changes its aisle layout.
