Met a guy on the PCT who said my route plan was 'cute'
Ran into him at the Cascade Locks resupply, and he scoffed at my 15-mile days, saying real hikers do 25 minimum. It just killed my vibe for the whole afternoon... anyone else deal with that kind of gatekeeping on trail?

Man, that reminds me of a guy I met on the AT who ONLY talked about gear weight. He saw my old pack and said I was basically carrying a boat anchor. Meanwhile, I was having a great time and his super light setup meant he was cold and miserable every night. Some people just fixate on the wrong things.

That kind of attitude is just plain lame... hiking your own hike is the whole point. Maybe @valwest sees it differently, but pushing for big miles just to prove something misses why most of us are out there. Some folks want to crush miles, and that's fine for them. But calling someone's plan "cute" is just being a jerk, not giving advice. Your 15-mile days let you actually see the place you're walking through.
