The day I stopped trusting factory crimps on everything

I was wiring up a Garmin GFC 600 autopilot install on a Cessna 182 about 4 months ago. Checked a factory crimp on a D sub pin from the harness and it pulled right off with almost no force. Spent the next weekend re-crimping every single factory connection I could find in that panel. Has anyone else started redoing factory crimps as a standard step before install?

Man, that's rough. A buddy of mine had a nearly identical thing happen on a King Air he was doing an audio panel swap on. He pulled a factory crimp off a Molex pin just checking it for continuity and the wire came right out in his hand. He told me he spent the whole next Saturday pulling every connector he could get to and redoing them all. Said it made the install take twice as long but he felt way better about it when it was done. He's been doing the same thing ever since on any plane he gets into. It just isn't worth trusting them anymore.
