Appreciation post: From avoiding to always taping off trim
I used to rush through masking trim on cars (you know, like around windows and lights). After getting overspray on a customer's chrome piece, I slowed down and did it right. It actually made the whole job faster since clean-up was a breeze. Now I see it as a non-negotiable first step. What's your method for keeping tape lines crisp?

That "non-negotiable first step" thing is just slowing down for the basics.

You're right @dakotat45, that phrase does sound pretty stiff. I'll admit I'm probably the guy who came up with it, always overcomplicating the simple stuff. My brain just locks onto making things a "process" before I even start, and then I'm stuck. It's a bad habit of needing everything to be perfect right out of the gate. That definitely slows everything to a crawl for no good reason. Sometimes you just gotta skip the fancy name and do the thing.

Man, I get stuck on that exact same thing. Just naming something doesn't mean you're doing it.
