Warning: Moon phase ruined my galaxy shot last week.

Forgot to check the lunar calendar. Ended up with washed-out stars. Now I set reminders on my phone. Saves so much time and gas.

I learned the hard way about moon phases too, and your idea to set reminders is key. It's not just about the moon, checking the weather for clear skies is just as important. I also use a light pollution map to find dark spots, which helps a lot. This kind of planning really does save on wasted trips and gas. After a few failed tries, I now have a checklist I go through before every shoot. It turns a bad night into a good one, and the photos come out much better.

What's on your checklist, exactly?

Yeah, it's funny how that works. I've started making checklists for all sorts of simple things, like packing for a trip or even just going to the grocery store. It feels a bit silly at first, but it stops you from forgetting that one key thing you really needed. That moment of frustration when you realize you messed up is totally avoidable. It's just about building a better habit so your brain doesn't have to remember everything.
