TIL that answer quality in ask threads has really gone downhill
Honestly, I was browsing some old question threads from the early internet days, and tbh, it struck me how different things are. Ngl, back then, people would write full paragraphs with personal stories and genuine tips. Now, you see so many one-word replies or folks just telling you to google it. I remember posting about a weird noise in my car and getting a mechanic to walk me through every possible cause over multiple messages. These days, half the responses are jokes or dismissive comments without any real help. It feels like the spirit of sharing knowledge has been replaced by a rush to reply first. I'm warning you, if we keep letting this happen, these ask communities will lose their value completely. Let's try to bring back the depth and care that made them great in the first place.

Guess I'm part of the problem with my two word answers. I do miss those deep dive replies though. Maybe we can all try a little harder.

Forum help used to be way more detailed.

Actually, I've seen some recent threads with really detailed guides. Like last week on the tech board, someone wrote a full walkthrough for fixing common bugs. The mods there are strict about keeping info helpful. So it's not all gone, just spotty now.
