My homemade pizza dough turned into a frisbee somehow

I was kneading on my counter in Austin when I realized I used cold milk instead of warm water, the yeast never woke up. It baked into a dense disc that bounced off the cutting board, how do you save dough when you mess up the liquid temperature?

The first time it happened to me in my little apartment in Portland I was so mad I almost threw the whole thing in the trash. I used to be one of those "just restart from scratch" people, thinking there's no saving a batch that messed up that bad. But then I tried this trick where I dissolved a teaspoon of active dry yeast in a quarter cup of warm water with a pinch of sugar, let it sit for ten minutes until it got foamy, then kneaded that into my dead dough. It woke the whole thing up and I actually got a decent rise out of it, nowhere near perfect but way better than a frisbee. So now I always keep a backup packet of yeast in the cupboard just for that kind of oops moment.

Oh wow, that's genius and ridiculous at the same time. You basically performed CPR on a dead dough with a tiny packet of yeast and some sugar water. I love it, but also hate that it probably worked better than my last batch that had fresh yeast from the start.
