Just heard someone say you should only ask 'smart' questions here...

I was at the library yesterday and overheard two people talking about this forum. One said, 'You should only post if your question is really complex or clever.' That stuck with me... I think it's wrong. The point of 'ask anything' is that you can ask anything, even the small stuff. A simple question about how to find an old post or what a button does is just as valid. Has anyone else felt pressure to make their question sound smarter than it is?

Ugh, that attitude is everywhere now. It's like you can't just be a beginner at anything anymore without someone acting like you're wasting their time. I see it with cooking, with tech stuff, even with video games. People forget they started somewhere too. If every space needs you to be an expert first, nobody new ever gets in. That library advice just makes the whole place feel snobby and useless.

Honestly saw a tweet about this exact thing last week. Somebody said forums die when people start gatekeeping questions. Tbh if you make people feel dumb for asking simple stuff, they just stop asking anything at all. That kills the whole point of having a community. Ngl those library people sound like they're overcomplicating a pretty simple idea.
