Cut my dog's nail trimming time in half with a dremel tool

My dog hated clippers and it took us 20 minutes of wrestling to do one paw. I bought a $30 dremel from Lowes and got her used to the noise over 3 days now we're done in under 5 minutes. Anyone else switch to grinding instead of clipping?

Has your dog been nervous about the noise at all? My buddy tried this with his lab and it was a total disaster at first. He spent a whole week just letting the dremel sit on the floor while the dog ate treats to get used to it. Then he'd turn it on in the other room and slowly move closer. After like two weeks of that, the dog finally let him touch a nail with it. He said it was way more work than just clipping but now he won't go back because it's so much smoother. I just clip my dog's nails the old fashioned way but I can see why people switch.

Okay so is nobody going to mention that grinding nails kicks up dust? I switched to a dremel last year and the first time I did it I got a face full of nail particles. My dog sneezed for like ten minutes after. Now I wear a mask and make sure to do it outside or at least near an open window. Also if you have a dark colored dog you can't see the quick as easily with a grinder compared to clipping. I've hit the quick twice with the dremel because I couldn't see where the pink part started and that bleed is way more dramatic than a clipped quick. Just something to keep in mind before you ditch the clippers completely.
