Remember hauling a fridge down stairs by yourself?
Back in the early 2000s I'd deadlift a side-by-side with just a dolly and a prayer. Now I use a stair-climbing hand truck with a 600-pound capacity, got it after I threw my back out on a job in Alexandria 4 years ago. Anyone else switch to motorized gear and feel like you're cheating?

Manually carrying a fridge down stairs is one thing, but what about the landing? I used to work a basement apartment in Richmond where the stairwell turned at a 90 degree angle halfway down. No dolly or hand truck could make that turn with a fridge on it. Ended up building a custom plywood ramp that wrapped around the corner. Took three of us and a lot of swearing, but we got it down without a scratch. Motorized gear is great until physics says "nope.

Wait, you built a custom plywood ramp for a fridge because the stairs said no? Sounds like you guys turned a delivery into a DIY carpentry project. Reminds me of the time I tried to fit a couch through a door that was clearly lying about its measurements.
