Rant: Clients who hover during repairs slow everything down

I ask them to fetch a spare part from my van so I can focus. They often come back with it and the job goes faster.

Ever notice why that works? It breaks their focus cycle. They're stuck watching because they feel involved but don't know how to help. Giving them one simple, clear job solves that. It moves them from being a spectator to being part of the process, which calms their nerves. Suddenly they're helping, not just staring, and everyone can relax and get on with it.

Know what my friend went through last week? He was assembling a big bookshelf and his roommate just stood there watching, which made him mess up the steps. So he handed him the screwdriver and said "just hold this for a sec." The guy snapped out of his stare and actually started helping. My friend said the whole room chilled out immediately. That simple task totally broke the awkward vibe, lol.
