Just realized that finding the right capacitor for my old CRT monitor is a nightmare.

Finding the right capacitor for old CRTs is such a pain. I remember helping a friend with his, and we somehow made the colors all washed out. Never did figure out why.

Was it a cap in the color circuit or something else? A buddy of mine swapped a cap on his CRT monitor and ended up with muted greens. Turns out he used a generic part without matching the temperature rating, which threw off the bias. He had to go back and find one with the exact specs from the service manual, and that fixed it.

Nah, it's not that hard if you know where to dig. @wyatt_green's friend just had a common slip-up, but matching specs is part of the fun. Half the time you can grab the right cap from a basic electronics site.
