Finally gave in and tried a USB floppy drive emulator on my Amiga 500
I've been running an old Amiga 500 with a dying floppy drive for years. I kept avoiding those Gotek emulators cause I figured it was just some cheap knockoff that would corrupt my disks or something. Last month I grabbed one for $35 off a retro forum and loaded a 16GB USB stick with WHDLoad games. Works perfect, loads faster than the original drive, and I don't have to hunt down floppy disks at garage sales anymore. Has anyone else had good luck with these emulators on older machines?

Holding off for a month feels a little over the top if you ask me. I mean, it's a thirty five dollar piece of gear for a thirty year old computer, not a heart transplant. I got one for my old Mac and it's been fine, no corruption or anything, but I also can't say it's changed my life or anything.

Are you kidding me? A month is nothing when it comes to keeping old hardware safe. A $35 part can brick a whole system if it's badly made, and cheap SATA adapters have a history of frying logic boards. I've seen people lose their entire retro setups over stuff like that, and it's not worth the risk just to save a few weeks.
