Used to skip the filler episodes, now I watch them all

Back in 2019 I was on a One Piece binge and skipped every filler arc. Thought they were pointless and wasted my time. Then I hit the G-8 arc by accident last year. It had so much character banter and world building I missed. Now I watch every filler for shows I care about. Anyone else find a filler arc that actually added to the story for them?

G-8 is actually canon, not filler.

Episode 7 of the G-8 arc blew my mind when I was a teenager I thought those marines were actually going to catch the Straw Hats. I still remember that scene where they had to hide the Merry Go in that giant tree, that was peak tension for a filler arc. But honestly if G-8 is canon then my memory is even worse than I thought because I swore it was just a really good filler story that Toei made up. I guess I need to rewatch the whole show again just to make sure I don't mess up my One Piece trivia at parties.
