Scratched negatives from a 1978 Minolta, repair or just rescan?

I was at a camera swap meet in Portland last weekend and grabbed a roll of undeveloped Tri-X from some guy's estate lot. After developing it myself, half the frames have deep scratches that look like they came from a dirty pressure plate in the camera. I can either spend $60 on a liquid gate scanning setup to hide the marks, or just use Photoshop's healing tool and save the cash. But I'm wondering if anyone here thinks fixing the camera itself is worth it since the scratches will keep happening on future rolls, or do you just accept it as part of shooting old gear? What's your take on chasing perfect negatives versus working around the damage?

Funny thing, I had a roll come out looking like a cat walked on it, took me weeks to realize my fridge was melting the film.
