Realized I've been loading my 35mm canisters wrong for 6 months

The lab guy pointed out the sprocket holes weren't catching right and showed me the little curve on the take-up spool I'd been ignoring, has anyone else had a dumb simple habit mess up a whole roll?

Heard a guy on a photo podcast say most loading issues come from people not feeling for that little click on the spool. Easy to overlook when you're just trying to get the film in and go. Hope your next roll turns out clean.
