Hot take: set off a customer's alarm while testing and couldn't shut it up for 10 minutes
I was at a house out in Maplewood last Tuesday doing a routine panel swap. Everything was going fine until I accidentally shorted a zone wire with my screwdriver and the siren went full blast at 2 in the afternoon. Took me a frantic 10 minutes to find the backup battery hidden behind a false wall in the basement. Customer came home early from work and just stood there watching me sweat. Anyone else have an alarm that fought back harder than expected?

Bet my buddy did something similar once and learned the hard way to always locate the backup battery before touching any wires. Now he calls it the "find the hidden panic button" rule.

You ever read that article about the guy who got zapped because he forgot to check the backup battery in an old alarm panel? Reminded me of that... it's always the little things that'll get ya.
