My sister swore by 400 degrees for 12 minutes for frozen fries, but mine came out burnt and sad.

That's the problem with oven advice, every one is a little different. My old oven ran hot and would have turned them to charcoal. Had to drop it to 375 and watch them like a hawk. Maybe check yours with a cheap oven thermometer.

Even the racks can mess with temps, top vs bottom.

Yeah, my last oven was the same, always burning the bottom rack.
