Why does nobody talk about the real cost of these new AI art generators?

Last week, a friend in Austin showed me a project where they used a popular AI image tool to make a whole comic book cover in an hour. Everyone was amazed, but I just saw a room full of artists who looked worried. Three years ago, I worked on a small indie game where we hired a local illustrator for $2,000 to do our key art, and that relationship built our whole visual style. This new stuff feels fast, but it cuts out the human step that actually gives a project its soul. Has anyone else seen a creative project lose its heart by switching to pure AI generation?

That $2,000 for real art is a steal, and @anthony127's story about the album art is exactly why, it just kills the vibe.

Read an article about a band that used an AI for their album art. Fans could tell, said it looked generic and didn't fit the music at all. Kind of proves the point.
