Went to the new AI art exhibit in Chicago and left with a bad feeling
The gallery was full of these amazing AI generated portraits. Everyone was raving about the 'creativity'. But I looked close. The eyes were all wrong. Same weird, empty stare on every face. It felt cheap. Like the AI just learned one trick and repeated it. The artist said it took 10,000 images to train the model. That's a lot of data for such a hollow result. Does anyone else think this push for AI art is missing the human touch?

Come on, it's just a new tool. People said the same stuff about photography.

Yeah, that empty stare thing is a dead giveaway. I saw a piece online where the AI gave a person seven fingers because the training data had a weird angle. It just doesn't get the why behind things. Like, a human artist might paint a sad eye a certain way to tell a story. The AI just knows that 'eye' goes there. It's all surface, no soul. The tech is cool, but calling it art feels like a stretch.
