I chose a local AI startup over a big cloud service for my prototype and it's been a mess.

Their custom model promised better results for my niche dataset (like, 500 specific medical images from a clinic in Boise), but the API has been down three times this week. Has anyone else tried a smaller provider and regretted it?

That Boise clinic dataset sounds super specific... honestly 500 images is a tiny training set for any model, big or small.
