Found out the old drive-in theater outside Tulsa was actually a fallout shelter too

Was poking around the projection booth of that abandoned drive-in off Route 66 last weekend and found a trapdoor under some rotten carpet. Dropped down into a basement full of old Civil Defense supplies and a map showing it was a designated shelter during the Cold War. Anyone else stumble across hidden history like this in an abandoned spot?

Are you sure it wasn't just some old storm shelter with a few surplus boxes? I've seen a dozen spots like that repurposed as "fallout shelters" but they were really just basements with leftover government supplies.

You ever open a dusty old door in a basement and think "neat, vintage canned goods" and instead find a pile of 1950s fallout pamphlets and a single moldy cot? That's less "shelter" and more "government's weirdest yard sale." I swear half those places were just a way to sell people on the idea that a concrete box and a case of crackers would save them from a nuke. Nah, I'm pretty sure that "shelter" was just a glorified cleaning closet with a big sign. Hand me a Geiger counter and a sandwich, maybe I'll change my mind.
