Appreciation post: I just realized I've visited over 50 abandoned places in the last decade
It hit me while I was sorting old photos from an old mill in West Virginia. Has anyone else kept a rough count and been surprised by the number?

Sorting old photos is what did it for me too. I started a simple spreadsheet a few years back just to remember names and dates, and the total shocked me. It adds up way faster than you'd think when it's just a hobby. Now I log every trip right after I get home before I forget the details.

But come on, is it that big of a deal? It's just taking pictures. I have thousands of photos on my phone from random days out and I've never felt the need to catalog them. It starts to feel like a second job, not a fun hobby. You're on vacation to relax, not to create more paperwork for yourself when you get back.

Actually, keeping a simple list is the opposite of a second job. It takes two minutes to jot down a name and date, and then you actually remember the trip later. That feels way more relaxing than losing the memory completely.
