Caught myself using a wire brush on my grandmother's cast iron skillet from 1952
Watched an old Lodge instructional video from the 1950s and realized I was scrubbing off the seasoning that took 70 years to build up, what do you all use to clean vintage cast iron without ruining it?
Honestly, I'm not convinced all that old seasoning is even good. 70 years of burnt-on drippings and dust? That's kind of gross when you think about it. Might be better to strip it down and start fresh with a proper seasoning, but that's just my two cents.
