Mash temperature tweak turned my thin stout around
I used to crank up the heat for a thicker beer, but dialing it back made everything smoother. What's your trick for getting the right body?

Tweaked my mash once and got a porter thicker than motor oil. Still went down smooth though.

That maple syrup comparison is spot on. I tried a stout last winter that poured like cold molasses. Took about ten minutes to fill a pint glass, no joke. The bartender looked at me like I ordered a bowl of oatmeal. Tasted fine but honestly, I want my beer to pour like beer, not like something you need a spoon for.
