Can we talk about when a tricky cut just clicks?

I had a client with thick, curly hair asking for a layered bob. It was a challenge to get the layers right. I took my time and focused on the texture. When I showed her the mirror, her face lit up. Moments like that make all the practice worth it.

Gotta say though, if you did a lot of layering for texture on curly hair, it's probably not a bob anymore in the classic sense. That shape relies on a solid, heavy baseline. What you described sounds more like a curly shag, which is awesome. Those lived-in shapes are way better for movement anyway.
