Shoutout to the guy at the studio in Asheville who showed me how to use a wet paper towel to shape a tricky lip wrap.

I was fighting with a bubbly seal on a vase for an hour until he said to just dampen a small square and press it gently against the hot glass, which smoothed everything out perfectly.

That "tricky lip wrap" probably needed more heat, not a wet towel. The dampness could cause thermal shock and weaken the glass over time. Seems like a quick fix that might lead to bigger problems.

I had a similar issue with a stubborn lip wrap last month. A longer heating cycle at a lower temperature did the trick without any shock risk. Sometimes patience with the heat is better than quick tricks.

Also depends on the glass thickness, thin stuff needs way less heat than thicker pieces lol

Yeah, @xena_anderson is right about the shock risk, I just used a dry towel for mine.
