I spent weeks thinking I found a meteorite in my flower bed
I was sure this heavy, magnetic rock in my garden was from space. I took it to a geology meetup, and they chuckled before telling me it was just iron slag. The giveaway was the bubbly surface and how it stuck to a magnet too well. Now I always look for those signs before getting excited.

Hah, classic mistake. That bubbly texture is a dead giveaway for slag every time. It's way more magnetic than most real space rocks too. At least you learned without spending money on a lab test!
