TIL my old floor jack can lift way more than I thought

I was cleaning out my garage in Omaha and found the original manual for my 3-ton jack from the 90s. Buried in the fine print, it said the actual safe working load was 6,600 pounds, not the 6,000 I always assumed. I guess they just rounded down for the '3-ton' name. Has anyone else found their old tools are actually rated higher than the label says?

Check the manual for your other old tools too.

Wait, you actually read those old manuals? Mine are all in a box in the garage, probably chewed by mice. I tried reading one once for my dad's old table saw and the safety warnings were just a tiny paragraph. It basically said "don't put your fingers near the blade." That was it. No guard, no riving knife, nothing. It's wild how different things were. You think they just assumed everyone had common sense back then?
