PSA: I dropped $800 on a fancy spray booth filter system and it was a total waste
Everyone in my local group swears by these high-end HEPA filter units for their spray booths, saying it's the only way to get a perfect finish. So I saved up and got one for my small shop, thinking it would be a game changer. After three months of use, I can't tell a single difference in the finish quality on my pieces compared to my old, well-maintained box filters that cost a fraction of the price. The air might be a bit cleaner, but for the kind of work I do, mostly refinishing older furniture, it just doesn't justify the cost. Has anyone else found that some of the 'must-have' expensive gear is just not worth it for smaller operations?

Totally feel this. Bought a premium dust collector for my small woodshop that everyone said was essential. After a month I realized my old shop vac with a good bag was catching just as much sawdust for my weekend projects. The hype on some tools is real, but they're made for bigger shops running all day.

Yeah it's like that with a lot of stuff now. I mean we get sold the professional version of everything for home use. Maybe it's just me but my regular vacuum works fine, I don't need one built for a hotel.
