My fridge currently has a jar of kimchi, a can of chickpeas, and a half-eaten lime. What was I trying to make?
I saw a recipe online for a 'kimchi chickpea stew' and was totally skeptical, but I had the stuff. I threw the chickpeas and kimchi juice in a pot with some water and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Honestly, the sour-spicy broth with the soft chickpeas was actually really good. Has anyone else tried a weird combo like this that actually worked?

You ever put peanut butter on a burger? Sounds gross but I tried it once and it was shockingly good. I used to think food combos needed to follow the rules, but now I just throw stuff together. Your kimchi chickpea stew is proof that weird mixes can work out.
