Finally got a handle on my quarterly tax payments after a nasty surprise

I got hit with a big penalty last April because I was just guessing at what to set aside. Now I put 30% of every single payment into a separate account the day it clears, no exceptions. How do you all make sure you're ready for that bill?

My cousin got burned the same way. He started using a simple spreadsheet to track his income and tax set-aside.

What software do you use to track it?
