Spent $350 on a new respirator cartridge system and it's already clogged

Honestly, I'm pretty annoyed. I bought this new multi-gas cartridge setup for the furnace area about three weeks ago. It was supposed to last way longer than the old ones. Tbh, after just a few pours with some new alloy mixes, the pre-filters are totally packed with fine particulate. I can barely pull air through it now. I followed the change schedule they gave me and everything. Has anyone else run into this with newer cartridge designs? What are you guys using for heavy silica dust and fumes that doesn't cost a fortune to keep swapping?

Ugh, maybe your alloy's off-gassing something nasty?

I've been welding with that same alloy for three years now. The safety sheet only lists mild fumes during extreme heat. Most of the time it just smells like hot metal. Could be you're smelling the cleaner from the shop next door, they use some strong stuff. What makes you think it's the alloy?
