Question about a trick an old-timer showed me for core box vents
This guy named Ray at the old Midwestern Castings plant in Toledo showed me how he uses a bent piece of coat hanger wire to clear vent holes before the pour. He said, 'A blocked vent is just a bubble waiting to happen,' and I've never had a blow since. Anyone else have a simple tool hack like that?

My buddy swears by a bent paperclip for the same thing.

My grandpa kept a straightened-out fish hook on his bench for cleaning sprues. Said it was the perfect shape and he never lost it in the sand like a straight wire. Some of those old fixes just work.
