Pro tip: I dropped $80 on a set of ceramic-coated pouring cups for the aluminum line and they've already paid for themselves by cutting down on slag inclusions.
Has anyone else tried these or have a different trick for keeping the melt clean?

Funny how the expensive version and the kitchen hack both solve the same problem. It’s like how my mom’s old cookie sheet works better than my fancy nonstick one sometimes.

Oh man, I saw a video where a guy just used a steel tea strainer from the kitchen store... seemed to work shockingly well for catching junk. Might be a cheap thing to try first.

Wait, a steel tea strainer? That's wild, wouldn't the heat just wreck it immediately? I feel like it would melt or warp on contact with the hot metal.
