Found a sealed copy of 'The Great Escape' by Blur for $40 and it was not what I thought
I was at a flea market in Portland and saw this shiny CD in a bin. The guy said it was a rare early press of Blur's third album, still sealed! I got so excited and handed over the cash. Got home, carefully opened it, and the disc inside was just a burned copy of some random 90s dance mix. The case and art were real, but someone had swapped the disc. I felt so silly for not checking better. That forty bucks taught me a hard lesson about buying old music without a second look. Now I'm extra careful with any 'sealed' finds from sketchy stalls. Has anyone else been tricked by a fake disc in a real case?

Ugh, that's the worst kind of scam. Like, who even takes the time to make a fake that convincing? I almost got burned on a copy of "Parklife" at a swap meet last year, but the plastic wrap felt weirdly thick. Makes you wonder how many fakes are out there just waiting.

Man, that's such a bummer. I read a whole forum thread about this exact scam with old CDs, especially Britpop stuff. People were saying the fake discs often have a different color on the bottom or the printing looks blurry. @olivia_chen35 is right about the plastic wrap being a clue too. Some sellers use cheap re-seal bags that feel sticky or have a weird seam. It makes you not want to trust anything sealed from a random booth, you know?
