Just realized I was messing up my cut flowers by storing them wrong
I used to keep stems in plain water on the counter, but moving them to a cool, dark spot makes them last way longer. It's a small change that saved me a lot of wasted blooms.

My peonies on the dining table would droop after maybe 36 hours. Felt so wasteful. Moving the vase to the hallway table, which stays much cooler, bought me three extra days last week. It seems so obvious now, but I never connected the dots between room temperature and how fast they drink.

My grandma's dahlias used to wilt in just two days on my kitchen table. I was changing the water every day, but it didn't help much. Then I read about keeping them in a cool place, like a basement or even just away from direct sun. Why didn't I try that sooner? Now they last almost a week, which feels like a big win. It's crazy how such a simple fix can make all the difference.

Appreciate you sharing that, @the_henry. It makes total sense when you think about it, since heat speeds up how fast flowers use water. I always make sure to trim the stems at an angle too, for better water uptake. That cool spot trick is a game changer for delicate blooms.
