That moment you have to choose between speed and a perfect seam

I had a big glue-down vinyl plank job in a Denver apartment where the hallway had a slight curve. I could either cut the planks to follow the curve exactly, which would take a full extra day, or use a transition strip at the bedroom door to hide the imperfect seam. I chose the transition strip to keep on schedule. The client was fine with it, but I still see that little strip every time I drive by and wonder if I should have taken the time. Do you guys ever make that call and then second-guess it later?

Remember installing a tile backsplash where every cut had to be perfect around an old outlet. Spent three hours on that one tile, holding my breath with the wet saw. The homeowner never even noticed it, just said the kitchen looked brighter. Sometimes the detail that eats your whole afternoon is invisible to everyone but you. I still get hung up on that stuff too, even when the job gets paid and the client is happy. The ghost of that one tile haunts me more than any obvious shortcut I've ever taken.

Tell me about it, I still see the ghost of a miter cut I did in 2019. Guess we're just wired to spot our own invisible work.
