Spent $400 on a laser level setup and it still gathers dust in my van
I mean, back when I started doing floors 15 years ago, we just used a chalk line and a 4-foot level and called it good. Then last year I got talked into buying this fancy self-leveling laser with a tripod and a detector for like $400 total. Figured it would save me time on big living room layouts and long hallways. Honestly though, it just sits in my van most days because by the time I set it up and make sure nobody walks through the beam, I could've already snapped three chalk lines. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like lasers are better for guys doing drop ceilings or running conduit, not so much for glue-down vinyl plank. Has anyone actually found a reliable way to use these things on flooring jobs without it feeling like a hassle?

Had a buddy who spent three hours picking out a brand of ketchup once.
