Spent 12 hours on a 4-hour glue-down job in Phoenix
The concrete slab had a weird, wavy high spot right in the middle of a 500 square foot area. My Bosch laser level showed a 3/4 inch dip over 8 feet. Had to grind it down with a 7 inch diamond cup wheel, which threw dust everywhere even with my vac hooked up. Anyone else run into a slab that was just plain wrong and how do you price for that extra time?

Ever check the original floor plan for a drain?

Oh man, I never even thought to look there. Always just assumed it was a weird spot the builder picked. That's actually a really good idea.

Yeah, "always just assumed it was a weird spot" is pretty much my whole experience with this house. The builder put a drain in our laundry room that's right under the shelf and I spent a year thinking it was a mistake. Finally found the old blueprints rolled up in the attic and sure enough, it's supposed to be there for a floor sink or something. Makes you wonder what other little quirks are actually designed on purpose.
