My blender's death by design
My blender motor quit last week. I remembered my mom's old one with screws and a standard motor. Mine has a sealed case with no way in. Trying to open it cracked the plastic. Now it's trash, and I'm out a blender. Online, many say the same about new appliances. They're not made to be fixed. It's cheaper to toss them and buy new.

Perfect. They've managed to engineer the frustration right into the product. My last one had the same funeral after a smoothie. The plastic case is basically a one way ticket, designed to break if you even look at a screwdriver wrong. I'm half convinced the cracking sound is a feature, not a bug. It's the appliance's way of telling you to just give up and go to the store.
