My beach trip ruined by a jammed camera lens, need help fixing

On a recent coastal getaway, my camera got sandy. Now the lens won't retract. Tried cleaning it with a microfiber cloth. No change. Gave it some light taps. Still stuck. Worried about the tiny gears inside. Heard they're easy to break. Looking for tips on how to open it up safely. Hope I can fix it at home.

Jade's buddy Carl story is why I'd still open it up carefully, sage_lewis10 is right about not forcing it.

My buddy Carl had this exact thing happen on a trip to Monterey last year. His zoom lens got grit in it and wouldn't budge no matter what he tried. He took it apart with a tiny screwdriver set he bought online, but he snapped a ribbon cable inside. Ended up costing more to fix than the lens was worth, so maybe think twice before opening it up. He said the sand acts like grinding paste on those tiny gears, so forcing it just makes it worse.

Sand in lenses is brutal, never force the zoom ring.
